Since the beginning of winter, Russia has carried out six massive missile and drone attacks on Ukraine
Since the beginning of the winter period of 2025, the Russian Federation has conducted six large-scale missile and drone attacks in Ukraine, including on energy and civilian infrastructure. Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi is appealing to international partners for support to stabilise the situation.
During a teleconference with the Commander of the US Army in Europe and Africa, Christopher Donaghy, Syrsky noted that the front line remains tense. Despite significant losses in equipment and manpower, Russian troops continue their offensive, while intensifying fire on Ukraine's rear.
The latest attacks were a response to the winter circumstances, which Syrsky said Russia was using to put pressure on civilians. On the night of 13 January 2026, a large-scale attack was recorded, when Russian troops launched 25 missiles and 293 drones at Ukrainian targets.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion on 24 February 2022, Russia has used more than 13,300 missiles and 142,300 drones. In this context, the Ukrainian commander emphasised the need to strengthen air defence, including receiving modern anti-aircraft missile systems from the United States.
In addition, Syrsky outlined numerous critical needs that can be addressed by the PURL initiative. At the end of the conversation, he expressed his gratitude to General Donaghy and the people of the United States for their support and efforts to ensure peace.
