Zelenskyy submits draft laws on extension of martial law and mobilisation to Rada
On Monday, 12 January 2026, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine draft laws on the extension of martial law and general mobilisation.
According to the information on the parliament's website, this refers to draft law No. 14366 on approving a presidential decree on extending martial law in Ukraine and draft law No. 14367 on approving a decree on extending the term of general mobilisation. Both documents are dated 12 January 2026.
After registration, the draft laws were sent to the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada for consideration. It is expected that after the committee's review, they will be submitted for consideration by MPs in the session hall.
Martial law and general mobilisation are in effect in Ukraine due to Russia's ongoing armed aggression. The continuation of these regimes allows the state to continue to apply special legal mechanisms for defence, resource mobilisation and the operation of the security and defence sector.
