Zelensky imposed sanctions on former head of the Constitutional Court Tupitsky and Putin's entourage
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree on November 9 regarding sanctions against former Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Oleksandr Tupytskyi, Vladimir Putin's entourage, including his special envoy and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev.
"Ukraine's sanctions include individuals working within Putin's government structures and involved in looting in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, one of his 'wallets,' a Russian military intelligence officer, and one of the collaborators. We are also beginning work on Russian publishing houses that justify aggression and spread Russian propaganda worldwide. Everything in Russia that is oriented towards war must be blocked," – Zelenskyy announced in his address.
The President also responded to the sanctions imposed by Russians on Ukrainian officials, noting that this warrants greater international pressure. He promised to present his proposals for new sanctions to partners.
As of November 9, the sanctions list includes 8 individuals and 5 companies.
Among them are Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Andriy Omelchuk, Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Oksana Luts, and others.
Recall:
- At the end of March 2022, it became known that the dismissed Chairman of the Constitutional Court Oleksandr Tupytskyi unofficially left Ukraine after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, despite the ban on men of conscription age leaving the country and his status as a suspect in a criminal proceeding.
- In May of the same year, Tupytskyi was put on an international wanted list. In July, he was arrested in absentia.
- Investigation by Ukrainska Pravda revealed that the 59-year-old Tupytskyi resides in Vienna, Austria as a refugee and claims that he crossed the Ukrainian border legally as a "person released from mobilization."
- According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, Tupytskyi crossed the border in a foreign car driven by a person with dual (Ukrainian and Hungarian) citizenship, who presented a Hungarian passport to cross the border.
