The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has authorised a 40-day operation by the Security Service of Ukraine aimed at exerting influence on Russia with a view to persuading the aggressor state to end the war.

The Head of State announced this following a briefing by the Acting Head of the SBU, Major General Yevhen Khmara.

During the meeting, Zelenskyy heard a report on the implementation of the plan for long-range and medium-range sanctions, as well as the results of the work carried out by the ‘Alpha’ Special Operations Centre on the front line.

According to the President, the SBU has been demonstrating excellent results in defending Ukraine’s positions for several months running, thanks to the use of various types of drones.

“It is important that the SBU has, for several months running, demonstrated the highest performance in defending Ukraine’s positions on the front line through the use of various types of drones. The ‘Alpha’ Special Operations Centre is the leader in terms of the number of enemy personnel and equipment neutralised,” Zelenskyy noted.

The issue of Ukraine’s internal security was also discussed separately during the conversation.

The President thanked the Security Service of Ukraine for its work in protecting the state and the Ukrainian people.
