The woman extorted 450 thousand hryvnias from the military
A woman online was engaging in romantic relationships with men and inventing stories about a non-existent illness.

In Ivano-Frankivsk region, a 39-year-old woman was suspected of deceiving military personnel for over 450,000 hryvnias through social networks, reported by the National Police.

It was established that the woman had been engaged in fraud since February 2024. She created a fake profile on one of the social networks and, through it, met three servicemen.

"During the communication, she assured the men that she had health problems and a serious illness, and convinced them that she needed a large sum of money for expensive medicines. Later, romantic relationships developed between her and the victims. The offender even promised to marry them," the report states.

But when the woman began demanding even more money, the applicants suspected a fraudulent scheme and turned to the police.

Currently, the suspect faces up to five years of imprisonment under the article on fraud (Part 2, 3 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The woman has previously been convicted of similar crimes.
