Stitched Ukraine: the War Museum presents a symbol of unity for Unity Day
On 22 January, the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in World War II will host an event dedicated to Ukrainian Unity Day, the main purpose of which will be to demonstrate the power of unity in Ukrainian society through culture and art.
At 12:30 p.m. in the main building of the museum, a unique knitted canvas entitled "Sewn Ukraine" will be presented — a large-scale work of art created by craftswomen from different regions of the country. The project has united Ukrainian communities around the idea of community and mutual support and has already been entered into the Ukrainian Book of Records.
During the event, the authors of the canvas will talk about the concept and implementation of the project, the peculiarities of creating the work in the conditions of full-scale war, and will also transfer "Sewn Ukraine" to the museum's collection as a symbol of cultural resilience and unity.
A separate part of the programme will be an interactive component: visitors will have the opportunity to participate in the creation of a joint symbolic mandala of unity, emphasising the idea of collective responsibility and solidarity among Ukrainians.
Admission to the event is free, subject to prior registration. The event will take place at 27 Lavrska Street, Kyiv.
