Oleksandr Klymenko was born in September 1986 in the Chernihiv region (Sribne). He received his higher legal education at the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law Academy. His professional career began in 2010 as an investigator in the internal affairs agencies of Kyiv. After the police reform in 2015, he became a senior investigator, specialising in cases of embezzlement of state property, in particular at Ukrzaliznytsia.
His career took off in 2016 when Klymenko was selected to join the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU). In 2022, after winning the competition, he was appointed head of the SAP.
