23% of Russians acknowledge a deterioration in finances, and the authorities create an illusion of "stability"
“Household incomes are falling, while taxes and prices are rising. Economic pressure on the population will only intensify, and over time even more Russians will feel the war in their own pockets”, — note the CPSD.
The material condition of Russian citizens shows a trend of deterioration. As ThePublic.info reports, citing the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (CPSD), in recent months, the share of those who report an increase in their wealth has decreased to 8%. At the same time, 23% of respondents reported a worsening of their financial situation.
Optimism among Russians is also declining — only 24% expect improvement over the next year. Against this backdrop, Russian propaganda media emphasize another figure — 57% of respondents consider their material condition to be "average", attempting to create an illusion of economic stability.
CPSD emphasizes that the real situation is much more complicated. The full-scale war against Ukraine requires colossal resources and has led to systemic economic degradation of the Russian Federation.
Earlier, Ukrainian intelligence reported that the Kremlin is already preparing the population for a sharp decline in living standards due to a record budget deficit — 5.74 trillion rubles in 2025.
