Law enforcement officers have dismantled a large-scale operation in the Kyiv region involving the production and sale of forged documents. Fifteen people have been charged in connection with the case, and six suspects have been arrested.

In the Kyiv region, law enforcement officers have uncovered and dismantled an extensive network involved in the production and sale of forged documents featuring holographic security features.

According to the investigation, at least 15 people were involved in the scheme. The suspects produced and sold various types of documents, including passports, diplomas, driving licences, certificates and notarised documents.

The organised group operated with a clear division of responsibilities. Some members sought out clients, others were involved in producing the forgeries, whilst others were responsible for delivering the finished products and handling payments.

Orders were taken in person, through intermediaries and remotely. The forged documents were handed over to customers by post or during face-to-face meetings.

The investigation established that the use of such documents could have facilitated the illegal crossing of the state border, fraud, the misuse of personal data, evasion of liability and manipulation of state registers.

During 31 searches in the Kyiv and Chernivtsi regions, law enforcement officers seized forged documents, holographic security features, seals of state institutions, computer equipment and other material evidence.

Six participants in the scheme have currently been detained. Under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, 15 individuals have been served with notices of suspicion.

Investigations are ongoing. Law enforcement officers are identifying all those involved in organising the scheme and the distribution channels for the forged documents.
