A Russian strike on Dnipro destroyed a UN humanitarian aid depot worth $1.4 million
The United Nations has reported that a Russian Iskander missile struck a World Food Programme warehouse in Dnipro.
No one was injured in the strike, but humanitarian aid worth over $1.4 million was completely destroyed. The aid was intended for 130,000 people.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga stated that despite discussions of the situation in the UN Security Council and calls from the international community, Russia continues to attack humanitarian facilities and workers.
“I call on UN Secretary-General António Guterres to use all available tools and powers to force Russia to stop these reckless attacks on humanitarian operations,” the Ukrainian Foreign Minister wrote on social media.
The UN World Food Programme confirmed that a warehouse in Dnipro, which was being used for humanitarian operations, was deliberately struck by a high-precision Iskander ballistic missile.
The WFP stated that the attack destroyed a significant amount of food intended for people living near the front line. All of the organisation’s staff remained unharmed.
The WFP’s representative in Ukraine, Richard Reagan, stated that this was the second strike on this warehouse. In November 2025, it was damaged by a drone.
“Targeted attacks on humanitarian workers trying to save innocent civilians affected by the war are a crime and a violation of international humanitarian law,” Reagan said.
According to the UN WFP, over the past 18 months the organisation has recorded more than 84 incidents affecting its warehouses, vehicles, aid distribution points and the property of local humanitarian partners in Ukraine.
The UN World Food Programme emphasised that international humanitarian law prohibits attacks on civilian and humanitarian infrastructure. The organisation stated that such strikes pose a direct threat to the delivery of vital aid to the civilian population.
