A video has emerged showing the shooting of police officers in the Khmelnytskyi region (VIDEO)

A shooting took place in the village of Terlivka, in the Khmelnytskyi district, during a chase involving a driver whose licence had been revoked. One police officer was killed in the attack and another was injured.

It has been established that a patrol from the patrol police response unit of Police Station No. 3, Khmelnytskyi District Police Department, was pursuing a driver who had been disqualified from driving by a court order.

During the chase, the man stopped in the village of Terlivka and ran onto the grounds of his property. The police officers stopped near the yard and approached the gate. An investigative team was called to the scene.

A few seconds later, shots rang out.

Police Captain Serhiy Chornyi, an inspector with the patrol police response unit of Police Department No. 3 of the Khmelnytskyi District Police Department, was killed in the shooting.

His partner, Senior Police Lieutenant Vladislav Sandetsky, returned fire with his service weapon. He also sustained a gunshot wound and is currently in hospital.

The attacker fled the scene. Law enforcement officers are searching for him.

A criminal case has been opened in connection with the attack under Article 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

During an inspection of the scene, police officers found an empty magazine for an automatic weapon and 5.45 calibre cartridge cases in the courtyard of the building.
