A Z-blogger who called for the destruction of Ukraine has been placed on a wanted list after fleeing the front line
According to a wanted notice published by the Russian media, Guzenko is being sought for deserting his unit and evading his military service duties.
On 6 July, a message appeared on his Telegram channel stating that “Yegor will be out of contact for about two weeks”. Following this, the Russian Z-blogger began to be described as having deserted the front line.
What he wrote about the war
Yegor Guzenko was one of the pro-war Russian bloggers who publicly supported the aggression against Ukraine. In his posts, he took a radical stance, calling for general mobilisation in Russia and demanding that the war continue.
According to Denis Kazansky, Guzenko “had for years portrayed himself as a bloodthirsty berserker”, calling for general mobilisation in the Russian Federation and the destruction of Ukraine, but once sent to the front, he himself did not want to fight.
How he ended up on the front line
Guzenko did not immediately join the Russian army as a volunteer. In October 2024, he was detained in the Stavropol Krai, and a court remanded him in custody on charges of assaulting a police officer.
Following this, according to Ukrainian and Russian media reports, he signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defence to avoid remaining in custody or facing the risk of a prison sentence. In November 2024, it was reported that Guzenko had been released and the proceedings in his case suspended, after which he was sent to the front as part of one of the Russian army’s assault units.
What happened before he went missing
In May 2026, reports emerged that Guzenko had gone missing after being sent to an assault unit. His supporters claimed at the time that the blogger might have been sent on an assault mission following a conflict with his commanders.
In June, the Russian military police arrested the author of the ‘Thirteenth’ channel. It was reported that he had clashed with his commanders and was subsequently allegedly sent to an assault unit.
Guzenko’s story has become yet another example of the behaviour of pro-war Russian bloggers, who publicly call for mobilisation and the continuation of the war, but themselves try to avoid taking part in combat operations when they find themselves on the front line.
Guzenko himself had spent years cultivating a public image as a radical advocate of the war. However, after being assigned to an assault unit, according to media reports and a publicly released wanted notice, he was declared wanted for desertion.
