American actor James Gandy was killed in his own garden
This has been reported by the Los Angeles Times, the Associated Press and The Guardian, citing the Los Angeles Police Department.
American actor James Gandy was found with a stab wound in the garden of his home in the Tarzana area of Los Angeles.
According to police, the incident occurred on the morning of 3 June. Officers were called following a 911 call. The caller claimed to have “killed a man of sin”.
When police arrived at the scene, they found 81-year-old Gandy unconscious with a stab wound to the chest. The actor was taken to hospital, but could not be saved.
Who was arrested by the police
Police have arrested 44-year-old Michael Gladhill on suspicion of murder.
According to law enforcement, he is the son of a woman with whom James Gandy had a relationship, and lived in the same house.
Following his arrest, Gladhill was taken to Van Nuys Prison. Bail was set at $2 million.
US media report that upon the police’s arrival, the man drew the officers’ attention himself and stated that he was the one they were looking for.

James Gandy was a character actor with a long-standing career in film and television.
He has played around 150 roles. He is best known to audiences for his roles in the films “Jumanji”, “Top Gun: Maverick”, “Logan” and “Arachnophobia”.
Gandy also appeared in the TV series “The X-Files”, “Law & Order”, “Criminal Minds”, “NCIS: Los Angeles”, “The Closer” and “Cold Case”.
The actor’s agent, Pam Ellis-Ivenas, described him as a talented, modest and kind-hearted person.

The suspect has been detained on suspicion of murder. Further legal classification and procedural decisions are to be determined by law enforcement and the court.
