Arsenal have lost one of their key players ahead of the Champions League final – the consequences could be disastrous
This is according to The Sun.
The defender was injured in the Premier League match against West Ham, which the Gunners won by a narrow 1-0 margin. White left the pitch in the first half following a collision with Crisencio Summerville, and after the final whistle, he left the stadium with a knee brace.
According to the source, the 28-year-old is suspected of having damaged his medial collateral ligament. As a result, he will miss the Champions League final in Budapest and also risks missing out on the World Cup with the England national team.
Wheate’s problems have become an additional headache for Arteta, as first-choice right-back Jurrien Timber is also still recovering from an ankle injury and has yet to return to full training. Amid this personnel crisis, Christian Mosquera is being touted as one option for Arsenal, as he could cover the right flank of the defence in the final.
It is worth noting that White has been one of Arsenal’s key players in the final matches of the season and started in all five previous fixtures, including both legs of the Champions League semi-final against Atlético.
