The number of casualties resulting from the massive Russian attack on Kyiv on the night of 24 May has risen to 87, including three minors.

This was reported by the State Emergency Service.

It is noted that damage to civilian and administrative infrastructure has been recorded at 49 locations.

In the Shevchenkivskyi district, where the entrance to a five-storey building was destroyed by a direct hit, rescue workers recovered the bodies of two women who had died.

Rescuers dismantled 165 square metres of damaged reinforced concrete structures. Dog-handling teams searched over 100 square metres of the area. The service’s psychologists provided assistance to 112 victims. Clean-up operations are ongoing.

The attack on Ukraine on 24 May: what is known

As a reminder, on the night of 24 May, Russian forces carried out a massive combined strike on Ukrainian territory using various types of missiles and attack drones. In total, the electronic warfare units recorded 690 air attack vehicles – 90 missiles and 600 drones of various types.

The main strike was directed at Kyiv. Damage has been reported in all districts of the capital. 

As of the evening of 24 May, the Lukyanivska metro station in the capital had resumed operations following the massive Russian strike. However, the entrance and exit for passengers in one direction remain temporarily closed.
