Australia will provide Ukraine with an additional $100 million in aid to purchase critical military equipment.

This was announced by the country’s Ministry of Defence.

The new funding package will follow on from December’s $50 million contribution to the PURL programme. The new $100 million will be provided in two tranches of $50 million each over the next 12 months.

Taking this package into account, the total amount of aid from Australia has exceeded $1.8 billion, of which more than $1.6 billion is purely military support.

“What is happening in Ukraine matters here too, in the Indo-Pacific region. That is precisely why it is so important for Australia to continue on this course and support Ukraine until it achieves peace on its own terms,” emphasised Richard Marles, Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence.

As previously reported, Germany is set to provide Ukraine with a further $400 million in military aid.
