ESBU in Poltava region returns almost UAH 19 million of unpaid taxes to the budget
Detectives of the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in Poltava region have secured reimbursement to the local budget of more than UAH 18.9 million of losses caused by non-payment of land tax.
During the pre-trial investigation, it was established that in 2018 and 2019, an official of a Dnipro-based company specialising in the repair and maintenance of transport deliberately failed to pay land tax in full. For this purpose, the financial statements used understated tax figures and incorrect valuation of the land plot.
The losses to the state in the amount of over UAH 18.9 million were confirmed by the conclusion of a forensic economic examination. After the intervention of BES detectives, the company fully compensated the damage to the budget.
The company's official was served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - intentional tax evasion in especially large amounts. The criminal proceedings were forwarded to the court with a request to release the suspect from criminal liability. The Poltava Regional Prosecutor's Office is in charge of the proceedings.
