The Head of the Government, Yulia Svyrydenko, noted that energy facilities remain one of the main targets of Russian attacks, particularly the latest one on 2 June.

She made this announcement following a working visit to Riga, where she held talks with Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs.

The parties discussed increasing the supply of necessary equipment, in particular mechanisms for the accelerated transfer of equipment from Latvian thermal power stations to ensure the swiftest possible reconstruction of energy facilities in Ukrainian cities.

“During today’s heavy shelling, the enemy targeted not only residential buildings, hospitals and nurseries, but also energy and gas infrastructure facilities,” Svyrydenko emphasised.

The Ukrainian government is currently actively preparing for the next heating season. To this end, the relevant ministries are mobilising all possible domestic resources and coordinating international financial and technical support from partners to restore and protect the country’s energy network.
