Bolt has confirmed that it was one of their drivers who caused the fatal road accident in Solomyanskiy District, Kyiv — his account has been permanently suspended.

The taxi service has confirmed that it is cooperating with the police on this matter and is in contact with the passenger who was in the car at the time of the accident.

Following the accident, the company has reviewed its internal response procedures. Bolt has also permanently restricted access to the platform for drivers who have received at least two complaints regarding speeding or dangerous driving.

Fatal accident in Kyiv: what is known

The accident occurred on 5 June at the junction of Vadym Hetman and Ushynsky streets in Kyiv. According to the investigation, the driver of the Mercedes was travelling at high speed, lost control and crashed into an underpass.

Four people were killed in the crash — two police officers, a 47-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy. Three more people were injured, and the driver was admitted to intensive care.

On 6 June, the driver was charged. The patrol police specified that the man had committed a total of 39 traffic offences, 18 of them in the past year. Most of the offences involved speeding, which carries a fine of 340 UAH.

On 8 June, the driver was remanded in custody for 60 days without the right to bail.

Following the incident, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced a new system of penalties for offenders. It will automatically record the number and severity of traffic violations.
