Kirill Budanov, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, has stated that Russian troops have been unsuccessfully attempting to capture Stepnogorsk in the Zaporizhzhia sector for over a year. According to him, the occupiers are suffering heavy losses and are unable to advance further into the country.

This is according to a post by Kirill Budanov on Facebook.

Kirill Budanov stated that Russian units have been attempting to establish control over Stepnogorsk in the Zaporizhzhia sector for some time.

According to him, despite the deployment of significant resources, Russian troops are suffering losses and failing to achieve their objectives.

Budanov thanked everyone involved in defending the region and preventing the Russian occupiers from reaching Zaporizhzhia.

Actions of the Defence Forces and the Main Intelligence Directorate

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reported that the ‘Artan’ special forces unit is taking part in the fighting for the town and thwarting the enemy’s attempts to penetrate the urban area.

According to intelligence reports, Russian groups attempted to enter the southern part of the city in small units. They were stopped during a series of assaults in coordination with other units.

The Main Intelligence Directorate noted that during urban combat, Russian units were driven out of specific areas.

Defence forces employed aerial reconnaissance and precision fire. The military also checked buildings for the presence of the enemy and explosive ‘surprises’.

Situation on the front

The commander of the “Artan” unit reported that operations were conducted in a coordinated manner. According to him, Ukrainian forces are prepared for further attempts by the enemy to return to the city.

According to the Defence Forces, fighting continues in certain sections of the front line. The operation to destroy Russian forces is ongoing.

RBC-Ukraine also notes that the Head of the President’s Office, Kirill Budanov, has spoken of Ukraine’s response to all violations and “excesses” arising during the mobilisation process. He emphasised that all available mechanisms would be utilised for this purpose, and that mobilisation measures in the country must continue.

Furthermore, Budanov stated that prototypes of “smart” autonomous drones already exist in Ukraine. According to him, such technologies will become an important area of development for future military operations.
