Church officials in the Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions promoted the Kremlin regime — they face up to 10 years in prison
This has been reported by the SBU.
In the Kyiv region, a senior deacon of the Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) was exposed for inciting violence against Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers held captive in the chat rooms of Telegram channels.
The cleric called on the enemy to imprison Ukrainian soldiers in Russian jails, leave them without food or water for long periods, and send them “to hard labour”.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, an archimandrite, the former rector of a church in the Sieversk-Donetsk Diocese of the UOC (MP), was exposed for justifying the crimes of the Russians and awaiting the full occupation of Ukraine.
Following the seizure of part of the Luhansk region in 2014, the cleric travelled to Russia to secure the support of the leaders of the Russian Orthodox Church.
Upon returning to Ukraine, the clergyman incited parishioners to support the Kremlin regime during liturgies.
The cleric also justified Russian shelling of Ukrainian cities in private correspondence with acquaintances.
In addition, in the Cherkasy region, a local unemployed man was placed under suspicion for praising Putin in messaging apps and calling on him to strike Kyiv with the ‘Oreshnik’.
Meanwhile, in the Carpathian region, a woman from the Kosiv district was detained after calling for the revival of the USSR on social media.
On her Facebook page, she posted Soviet symbols and urged Ukrainians to ignore the current laws of our country.
The suspects face up to 10 years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property.
As a reminder, the SBU and the National Police previously uncovered a scheme to embezzle over 447 million hryvnias from Ukrenergo.
