On the morning of 5 June, an explosion occurred at the postal operator’s sorting centre in the Obolon district of Kyiv. Investigators are treating it as a terrorist attack.

This was reported by the Kyiv police.

According to preliminary information, the incident occurred during the inspection of one of the parcels. A 59-year-old man was killed in the explosion, and two others, aged 37 and 41, were injured.

An investigative team, bomb disposal experts from the capital’s police force, State Emergency Service rescuers and medics are currently working at the scene. Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances.

The Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office stated that the explosion at the terminal has been classified as a terrorist act. Law enforcement officers have launched a pre-trial investigation under the relevant section of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Part 3 of Article 258).
