The State Bureau of Investigations uncovered a scheme to interfere with the registration of conscripts in the Cherkasy Regional Military Commissariat
Employees of the State Bureau of Investigations exposed an organised group that illegally interfered with the registration of conscripts during martial law. According to the investigation, the scheme involved two managers and an operator of one of the district territorial recruitment and social support centres in the Cherkasy region, as well as the former head of the personnel department of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Investigators established that the officials had illegally altered information in the Unified Electronic Register of Conscripts, Military Personnel and Reservists for personal gain. They unjustifiably added and removed men from military records, which made it possible to obtain deferrals or completely avoid conscription during mobilisation.
According to operational information, the cost of such a service was 10,000 US dollars. At least 48 people were illegally entered into the electronic database.
Four suspects, who are military personnel, were notified of their suspicion of unauthorised alteration of information in automated systems, committed as part of an organised group. The actions are classified under Part 3 of Article 28 and Part 3 of Article 362 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. These articles provide for up to six years' imprisonment.
Law enforcement agencies are currently deciding on preventive measures for the suspects. The criminal proceedings are being supervised by the Specialised Defence Prosecutor's Office of the Prosecutor General's Office.
