NABU detective exceeded the speed limit and swerved into oncoming traffic, causing an accident
As a result of the accident, the truck driver sustained serious injuries, reported to the agency "Interfax-Ukraine" a source in law enforcement agencies.
"A NABU detective who was driving the vehicle exceeded the speed limit and swerved into oncoming traffic, which led to a collision with the truck. The truck driver received serious injuries, and his leg was amputated," the agency's interlocutor said on Friday.
NABU reported that "the NABU detective was sober." The Bureau also emphasized that "considering the involvement of the State Bureau of Investigation and the Office of the Prosecutor General in investigating the circumstances of the accident, NABU will do everything to establish the truth and, if necessary, will provide the detective with the necessary legal support."
But the Ukrainian Independent Information Agency (UNIAN) reports that other employees of the anti-corruption bureau immediately arrived at the scene of the incident, who tried to "cover up" the case.
The name of the detective who caused the accident is Serhiy Nagornyuk.
«According to our sources in law enforcement agencies, the NABU detective not only caused an accident with a service vehicle but was also driving at a speed of 200 km/h – he drove into oncoming traffic and crashed into a "Mercedes Sprinter". The impact was so strong that the victim's car was turned into scrap metal, and the "Mercedes" driver sustained serious injuries – one leg was amputated, and the other was shattered. He is currently in intensive care,» reports the agency.
According to witnesses, other bureau employees immediately arrived at the scene, who exerted pressure on the police and tried to "cover up" the case. They also prevented witnesses from filming the aftermath of the accident. These detectives were identified – colleagues Irina Molchanyuk and Mykola Valchuk came to help the colleague avoid responsibility.
In Nagornyuk's car, very interesting items were found – in particular, "fake" IDs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Security Service of Ukraine. This could be grounds for opening another case for document forgery.
Recall that previously, the DBR had already announced suspicion of three NABU employees for committing three separate road accidents that occurred in 2021 and 2023, resulting in injuries to people.
