Drone attack on St Petersburg: residents advised to stay indoors

Communication problems have arisen in St Petersburg
The Governor of St Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, addressed residents following the drone attack and urged them not to leave their homes unless absolutely necessary. He also warned of possible disruptions to mobile internet services. According to local authorities, three people were injured as a result of the attack. The monitoring service Downdetector recorded a sharp increase in complaints about mobile internet service from around 3.40 am. In total, users left nearly 3,000 reports of connectivity issues over the course of the day. According to the portal "Sboy.rf", St Petersburg was among the regions with the highest number of complaints regarding service outages and disruptions.
Drones reached the Kronstadt area
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had previously reported new strikes on military targets on Russian territory. According to him, Ukrainian drones travelled around a thousand kilometres to the St Petersburg area. The targets included, in particular, Russian Navy arsenals and a base in Kronstadt.
As previously reported by The Public, on the night of 6 June, drones attacked a number of targets in Russia and in the temporarily occupied territories. According to monitoring channels, the drones attacked the area around the port of Kronstadt in the Baltic Sea. Several fires were reported there following the explosions. Due to the threat of UAVs, an air raid alert was declared in St Petersburg and the Leningrad Oblast. Furthermore, explosions were heard last night in the town of Uzlovaya in the Tula Oblast of the Russian Federation. Local residents reported a fire following the strike.
