In the Krasnodar Region, Russia’s main oil export hub on the Black Sea is ablaze following a drone attack in Novorossiysk

On 5 April and during the night of 6 April, drones attacked the Krasnodar Krai. Air raid alerts were issued in Novorossiysk, Anapa, Gelendzhik, Sochi and other areas. The most extensive damage was reported in Novorossiysk.

According to an analysis of video footage from local residents, the ‘Sheskharis’ oil terminal in the port of Novorossiysk was hit. A fire broke out at the facility. The Ukrainian OSINT channel Dnipro also reported a fire at the oil loading berth.

“Sheshkharis” is one of the largest complexes for the transhipment of oil and petroleum products in southern Russia and is part of the structure of JSC “Chernomortransneft”, a subsidiary of PJSC “Transneft”. The facility handles the reception, storage and loading of oil and petroleum products onto tankers.

The Russian Ministry of Defence reported that on the evening of 5 April, 148 drones were intercepted or destroyed over the territories of the Belgorod and Kursk regions, the Krasnodar Krai, the annexed Crimea and the Black Sea.

The Sheskharis oil terminal had previously come under attack. In November 2025, the oil depot and coastal facilities were damaged. On the night of 2 March 2026, it was reported that six out of seven oil loading stands had been hit.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have not commented on the new attack.
