Special forces from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence, known as ‘Artan’, have reported that an assault operation has taken place in Stepnogorsk, Zaporizhzhia Oblast. The unit stated that key locations in the town are now under the control of the Ukrainian Security and Defence Forces.

The ‘Artan’ special unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence has released footage of combat operations in Stepnogorsk in the Zaporizhzhia sector.

The unit reported that the operation was carried out in coordination with neighbouring forces. The aim of the offensive was to drive Russian troops out of the town and stabilise the situation there.

According to military sources, during the assault, a Russian FPV drone attempted to attack the vehicles used by the special forces units. The Main Intelligence Directorate stated that the drone was destroyed.

The special forces unit noted that as a result of the urban combat, Russian forces were driven out of their fortified positions, and key locations in Stepnogorsk came under the control of the Ukrainian Security and Defence Forces.

Viktor Torkotuk, commander of the ‘Artan’ special forces unit, reported that the assault operations were carried out using aerial reconnaissance and precision fire.

“Every building has been checked for ‘surprises’ and any remaining enemy personnel. We cannot rule out that the enemy will continue to attempt to re-enter the town, but we are prepared for this,” said Torotyuk.

The unit added that combat operations in the Stepnogorsk area are ongoing.
