Fox Sports is offering $50,000 to a spectator at the World Cup
Fox Sports, in partnership with the job site Indeed, has announced a search for a candidate for the role of Chief World Cup Watcher. The role involves watching all 104 matches of the World Cup, according to Reuters.
The successful candidate will watch every minute of the matches on the Fox One platform, which is the official streaming service for the 2026 tournament. The viewing will take place in a specially constructed glass cube in Times Square, New York.
As well as watching the matches, the winner will create content for social media and share their impressions, turning the broadcasts into a public viewing experience for passers-by.
The company noted that this will be one of the most unusual summer jobs, involving carrying out tasks throughout the entire tournament.
Applications can be submitted via the Indeed platform. The winner is set to be announced on 6 June during the broadcast of the baseball match between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the largest in the tournament’s history. It will feature 48 teams. The competition will take place in the US, Canada and Mexico from 11 June to 19 July.
