From +37 to +17: how long will the heatwave last in Ukraine, and when can we expect a drop in temperatures?
The heatwave in Ukraine
A severe heatwave has swept across Ukraine: today, 29 June, temperatures will reach +37 degrees in some places. However, the situation is set to change dramatically by the end of the week.

 

ThePublic explains how long the heatwave will last and when we can expect cooler weather.

Weather forecast for 29 June

According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre, daytime temperatures will remain above 30 degrees across almost the whole country today. It will be hottest in the western regions – up to +37 degrees – and in the north – up to +34 degrees. In Kyiv, temperatures are also expected to reach up to +34 during the day today.

It will be slightly cooler in the east, with a daytime high of +28 degrees today.

Weather forecast for 30 June

Tomorrow will also be hot across Ukraine. In the western regions, temperatures will reach up to +36, in the south up to +35, in the central and northern regions up to +34 degrees, and in the east up to +30 degrees. In Kyiv, tomorrow’s daytime high will be +33 degrees.

Weather on 1 July

Daytime highs above 30 degrees will continue on Wednesday. The highest temperatures will be in the western regions and the north – up to +34 degrees. In Kyiv, it will be up to +33 degrees on Wednesday.

Weather on 2 July

On Thursday, the heatwave will begin to ease. In the western regions, the maximum is expected to reach up to +28 degrees, whilst in the east it will warm up to +32 degrees. In Kyiv, the temperature will still be +33 degrees, and in the central regions it may reach up to +34 degrees in some places.

Weather on 3 July

It will feel noticeably cooler on Friday, with rain also expected in some places. In the western regions, the temperature will drop to a comfortable +22 degrees. In Kyiv, rain is expected, with temperatures reaching up to +28 degrees.

However, in the south and east, it will still be hot – up to +34 degrees with no rain.

Weather on 4 July

On Saturday, temperatures across the country, except in the east, will drop below 30 degrees and it will rain almost everywhere. Kyiv will be the coolest – temperatures will drop to +17 degrees.
