The full amount of bail — 150 million hryvnias — has been paid on behalf of former Minister of Energy and Justice Herman Halushchenko, who is suspected of involvement in the ‘Midas’ corruption case at ‘Energoatom’.

This was confirmed to the publication ‘Babel’ by the High Anti-Corruption Court.

‘Schemes’, citing sources within law enforcement agencies, reported that the final 45 million hryvnias of bail for Halushchenko were paid by two private firms — ‘Pellet Service’ (4 million hryvnias) and ‘Girant Konstrukt’ (41 million hryvnias).

The same company — ‘Girant Contract’ — also paid a further 46 million hryvnias in bail on Friday, 26 June, according to ‘Schemes’ sources.

The ‘Midas’ case: what is known

Herman Halushchenko headed the Ministry of Energy from 2021 to 2025, before becoming Minister of Justice.

In November 2025, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) announced a large-scale operation, ‘Midas’, to expose corruption in the energy sector. According to the bureau, Energoatom’s contractors were forced to pay kickbacks to avoid having payments for services rendered and goods supplied blocked, or to prevent them from losing their supplier status.

Recordings published by NABU revealed that Galushchenko was one of the individuals implicated in the criminal organisation’s activities. Law enforcement established that, through a trusted associate of Galushchenko, the criminal organisation had received over $112 million.

Galushchenko’s premises were searched, and he was subsequently dismissed from his post as Minister of Justice.

On 15 February 2026, Galushchenko was detained whilst attempting to leave the country and, two days later, was remanded in custody with bail set at 200 million UAH. This was subsequently reduced to 150 million UAH.
