The General Staff reported over a thousand casualties in the Russian army and the loss of five air defence systems in the past 24 hours
Total combat losses among Russian troops in the war against Ukraine from 24 February 2022 to 8 May 2026 amount to approximately 1,339,190 personnel. Over the past 24 hours, the Russian army has lost 1,130 soldiers.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Also over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian Defence Forces destroyed one tank, 17 armoured fighting vehicles, 91 artillery systems, two multiple launch rocket systems and five air defence systems.
In addition, the Russian army lost 1,817 tactical-level drones, 334 vehicles and tankers, eight ground-based robotic systems and one piece of specialist equipment.
According to the General Staff, since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost 11,919 tanks, 24,538 armoured fighting vehicles, 41,630 artillery systems, 1,778 MLRS and 1,370 air defence systems.
The Ukrainian military has also destroyed 435 aircraft, 352 helicopters, 279,729 tactical-level unmanned aerial vehicles, 4,585 cruise missiles, 33 ships and boats, two submarines, 94,879 vehicles and tankers, and 4,173 units of specialist equipment.
