Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff denies Russian claims of seizing Gulyaypol and Myrnohrad
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has denied the statements of the Russian side about the alleged seizure of Gulyaypol, Myrnohrad and half of Kostiantynivka, calling them disinformation. The ministry noted that the situation in these settlements remains difficult, but there is no question of occupation.
According to the General Staff, a defensive operation is underway in Gulyaypol, Zaporizhzhia region, with Ukrainian units destroying enemy infantry groups directly within the city. In Myrnohrad, the situation is also tense, but Russian troops are not able to capture the Pokrovsko Myrnohrad agglomeration.
As for Kostyantynivka, the General Staff stressed that the information about Russian control over half of the city is not true. The defence forces are holding their positions and destroying the enemy on the outskirts. In particular, on 26 December, the enemy attempted an assault with a convoy of vehicles. The Ukrainian military destroyed two tanks with demining equipment, and the infantry were eliminated using drones.
The General Staff recalled that Russia had previously made similar statements about Kupyanka and Pokrovsk. At the same time, most of Kupyansk has been liberated, the enemy is blocked there, and the defence of Pokrovsk has been going on for 17 months and is accompanied by significant Russian losses.
The Ukrainian command noted that such disinformation has intensified against the backdrop of the peace process and is primarily aimed at international partners. At the same time, it will not affect Ukraine's position and further diplomatic work. According to the General Staff, the daily losses of Russian troops are at least 1,000 killed and wounded.
Earlier, Vladimir Putin after the report Valery Gerasimov publicly announced the alleged capture of Myrnohrad and Gulyaypole.
