Shadow economic schemes remain widespread in Ukraine as the Bureau of Economic Security (BEB) struggles to deliver results, according to lawmaker Danilo Hetmantsev. Despite new leadership, he says the agency is failing to complete long-standing cases—allowing major tax-evasion networks to continue operating

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Danylo Hetmantsev, believes that the Bureaus of Economic Security (BEB) should accelerate and bring to a logical conclusion the criminal proceedings that have long been under investigation by the Bureau, as shadow schemes in the economy continue to operate. This was stated by the MP in his interview with Ukrainian News.

Specifically, in response to a question about the results of the work of the new head of the Bureau of Economic Security, Oleksandr Tsvynskyi, Hetmantsev noted:

"We see that, unfortunately, the main schemes that were in place continue to operate. But perhaps there hasn't been enough time for results yet. Maybe soon we will hear about some victories. I would like the BEB to accelerate, at least to bring to an end many of the criminal cases that were initiated but successfully 'sold' by the previous leadership."

Among the most illustrative cases mentioned by Hetmantsev is the tax evasion network involved in the sale of electronics "Yabko".

"More than a year ago, the entire chain of the crime was documented. Searches were conducted. Then the case was hushed up, and the shadow network continues to develop, selling contraband. What prevents the leadership of the BEB from reviving old cases and cleaning up the market? What, according to the classic, is missing from the reforms? But the question is more rhetorical," said the deputy.

Earlier, the Director of the BEB, Oleksandr Tsvynskyi, stated that the Bureau would decisively respond to illegal schemes in the electronics retail sector and promised to create equal conditions for business. Subsequently, the Bureau launched a Telegram bot for reporting violations in the electronics market. However, after a month, information about the number of appeals received through it and the results of their review by the BEB was not provided and refused.
