The Main Intelligence Directorate has released data on 31 vessels belonging to the shadow fleets of Russia and Iran
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has published information on the War and Sanctions portal about 31 vessels that are classified as part of the shadow fleet of the Russian Federation and Iran. According to intelligence reports, these vessels are involved in the transportation of crude oil, petroleum products and liquefied natural gas, which generate critically important export revenues for the Russian budget.
The list includes oil tankers operating on behalf of Rosneft, Surgutneftegaz and Tatneft, which are among the largest taxpayers in the Russian oil and gas sector. Data has also been released on gas carriers transporting Russian liquefied gas from the sanctioned Gazprom LNG Portovaya project, as well as from the Yamal LNG project, which is not yet subject to full restrictions by partner countries.
The GUR emphasises that energy exports remain the main source of revenue for the Russian Federation's budget. It is these funds that are used to finance the war against Ukraine and support the military-industrial complex of the aggressor country.
On the eve of another anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, intelligence services emphasised that as long as energy billions continue to flow into the Russian budget, Moscow will accumulate resources to continue the war and destabilise the security situation in Europe.
The agency called on partner states to increase sanctions pressure on the Russian energy sector. According to the GUR, coordinated and systematic restrictions could deprive Russia of its financial base for waging war and accelerate the achievement of real peace. Earlier it was reported that 175 Russian tankers flying false flags are transporting oil across the Baltic Sea.
