Ukraine's military intelligence foiled an operation by the Russian special services to eliminate RDC commander Denis Kapustin. The $500,000 allocated for the assassination attempt was used to strengthen the DIU's units.

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine has successfully disrupted an operation of the Russian special services aimed at eliminating the commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps unit Denys Kapustin. This was reported by the commander of the Special Forces unit Timur to the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov.

According to the DIU, Russian special services allocated $500,000 to organise Kapustin's murder. As part of a complex special operation that lasted more than a month, Ukrainian intelligence officers saved the life of the RDC commander, identified the circle of customers and executors, and received the funds. The money is currently being used to enhance the capabilities of special military intelligence units

The RDC commander is on the territory of Ukraine and is preparing to continue performing combat and special tasks. Budanov congratulated Kapustin on the successful completion of the operation and noted that the resources allocated to the assassination attempt will be used to strengthen Ukraine's defence capabilities

Kapustin confirmed his readiness to continue commanding the unit and stressed that his temporary absence did not affect the performance of combat missions. The DIU Chief thanked the Special Forces commander Timur and the reconnaissance team for the effective implementation of the operation
