Israel has announced the elimination of one of Hamas's leaders
This is reported by Newsru.co.il, citing statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Defence Minister Katz.
The strike targeted a flat and a car
According to Israeli sources, the operation took place in the Rimal neighbourhood of the Gaza Strip. Fighter jets and drones were used in the attack. According to the Israeli Ministry of Defence, strikes were simultaneously carried out on the flat where al-Haddad was staying, as well as on the car in which he was allegedly attempting to leave the area. Tel Aviv stated that the killing had been confirmed on the basis of intelligence data. According to reports from the Gaza Strip, one person was killed and around 20 others were injured as a result of the strike on the flat. Three more people were killed in the car that was hit.
Netanyahu named al-Haddad as one of the organisers of the 7 October attack
Benjamin Netanyahu stated that al-Haddad was one of those involved in the Hamas attack on Israel on 7 October. According to the Israeli Prime Minister, he was responsible for the abduction and detention of hostages in the Gaza Strip, and also refused to support the US-proposed plan to disarm Hamas. Following reports of the operation, Defence Minister Israel Katz contacted the family of former hostage Liri Elbag, who had been held captive by Hamas.
