Israel has closed schools due to rocket attacks by Hezbollah

Switch to special regime: security measures in Israel
Following a decision by the Israel Defence Forces’ Home Front Command, schools in communities near the border with Lebanon will be closed on Sunday and Monday. Restrictions have also been imposed on outdoor events – the number of participants must not exceed 50 people. In addition, beaches in the north of the country have been temporarily closed. The Israeli Ministry of Health has announced that the Galilee Medical Centre in Nahariya has been relocated to a secure underground complex. The hospital is located approximately six miles from the border between Israel and Lebanon.
Hezbollah has stepped up its attacks
On Saturday, the Lebanese group Hezbollah claimed responsibility for 24 attacks on Israeli targets. According to the group, eight strikes were carried out directly on Israeli territory using rockets and attack drones, whilst a further 16 attacks targeted areas near the border. The Israel Defence Forces reported that on Saturday it detected at least 15 rocket launches from Lebanese territory towards the northern parts of the country. The IDF stated that a significant proportion of the projectiles were intercepted by air defence systems, whilst others fell in open terrain.
The IDF warned of a possible intensification of shelling
On Saturday, the Israeli military warned of a likely increase in the intensity of attacks in the north of the country. The IDF linked this threat to the advance of Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon.
