Italy to send generators to Ukraine — Giorgia Meloni expresses solidarity
During a telephone conversation with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni confirmed that Italy would immediately provide Ukraine with emergency assistance in the form of generators and energy equipment. This was reported by The Public, citing the Italian government and Zelensky's post on Telegram.
The generators, provided by Italian companies, will be sent to Ukraine in the coming weeks.
Zelenskyy thanked Meloni for her “attention to diplomatic work” and prompt support for energy infrastructure, immediately noting that this equipment is “extremely necessary” in the context of renewed enemy attacks on civilian targets.
During the conversation, the leaders also discussed the results of recent negotiations with the US and the prospects for a diplomatic settlement of the war. According to Meloni, Italy remains committed to finding a just and lasting peace and is ready to engage in further cooperation with its European partners.
This move by the Italian government is an important signal of solidarity with Ukraine, as the restoration of energy supplies has become a critical need after the Russian attacks. Such assistance could be vital in providing heat and electricity to homes and critical infrastructure in the country.
