Israel has urged Iranians to avoid travelling by train until this evening
The Israel Defence Forces has issued an urgent warning to residents of Iran, urging them to refrain from travelling by train until 21:00 Iranian time, reports the Times of Israel.
In a statement, the IDF’s Persian-speaking spokesperson, Reserve Lieutenant Colonel Kamal Penhasi, noted that being on trains or near railway infrastructure could put people at risk.
“Dear citizens, for your own safety, we ask you to refrain from using trains and travelling by rail in Iran from now until 21:00 Iranian time. Your presence on trains and near railway tracks puts your lives at risk,” the statement reads.
The day before, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz stated that the army had been instructed to continue strikes against Iran’s national infrastructure.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump demanded that Iran open the Strait of Hormuz and warned of possible strikes on power stations and bridges should this demand not be met.
In response, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Alireza Rahimi, called on citizens to form ‘human chains’ near power stations across the country.
