Canada is allocating an additional $200 million to the PURL programme
This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following the European Political Community summit.
“Mark Rutte assured us that the supply of anti-missile systems to Ukraine is continuing in line with previous agreements,” the President noted.
The summit also saw detailed discussions on strengthening air defence, in particular the production of necessary European systems and missiles, support for the PURL programme, and the possibility of equipping Europe with its own anti-ballistic capabilities. The need to protect Ukraine’s energy sector was also discussed.
Furthermore, the event addressed the continuation of negotiations to end the war.
“Diplomacy is a very substantive matter. Due to the war in Iran, there is currently an obvious pause in the negotiations. We discussed how to revitalise this process, contacts with America and Europe’s role in it. We also spoke about the situation on the front line. It is very important that all partners noted that Ukraine’s position is now significantly stronger,” Zelenskyy said.
