The Canadian government has contributed a further €12.4 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. The country’s total contribution now stands at over €57 million.

This was reported by the Ministry of Energy.

The funds are now being channelled towards the immediate needs of energy companies and the restoration of energy infrastructure across the country in preparation for the coming autumn and winter period.

“I am grateful to Canada for its consistent support of Ukraine. This assistance is critical to ensuring the resilience of our power system in the face of constant attacks by Russia and to strengthening the country’s energy security ahead of the heating season,” said First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal.

Since 2022, the Ukraine Energy Support Fund has been working with international partners to respond swiftly to the consequences of attacks on the energy system and to restore it. Equipment worth around €260 million is currently on its way to Ukraine and is expected to arrive before temperatures drop.
