Kyiv region received 379 generators from Poland to strengthen the energy resilience of communities
The Kyiv region received the first batch of aid from the Republic of Poland in the form of generators and heaters to improve the energy security of communities. The equipment was handed over on 29 January as part of a large-scale support programme, which provides for the delivery of a total of 379 generators by the end of the month. This was reported by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development.
The first batch included 35 generators of various capacities and 18 oil heaters. The handover ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for the Recovery of Ukraine, Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba, Chargé d'Affaires of Poland in Ukraine Piotr Łukasiewicz, Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development Artem Rybchenko, and Head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration Mykola Kalashnyk.
The Ministry of Community and Territorial Development noted that Kyiv Oblast has been under constant threat of Russian attacks since the first days of the full-scale war. That is why the development of alternative energy sources and backup power supplies has been identified as one of the key priorities for the region.
Oleksiy Kuleba stressed that each generator means light, heat and safety for people. According to him, Poland remains a reliable partner of Ukraine and provides systematic assistance. He also announced that a decision has already been made to purchase 10 more powerful generators, for which funding has been allocated.
The equipment received is planned to be used to ensure the uninterrupted operation of water, heat and electricity supply facilities, social institutions, life support centres and other critical infrastructure in the region. The Deputy Prime Minister thanked the Polish government, the embassy and all partners for supporting Ukraine during the most difficult times.
