The Parliamentary Committee will consider a pay rise for police officers at an extraordinary meeting
The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement will consider draft law No. 6506-1, which concerns the modernisation of police officers’ pay, at an extraordinary meeting.
The document provides for amendments to Article 94 of the Law of Ukraine ‘On the National Police’. In particular, it is proposed to stipulate that pay must guarantee adequate material conditions for the proper performance of official duties.
The current version of the law does not contain such guarantees and determines the level of pay depending on position, special rank, length of service, intensity and conditions of work, qualifications, as well as the possession of an academic degree or academic title.
According to the draft law, financial remuneration should take into account the nature, intensity and danger of the service, help attract qualified personnel, encourage high performance and compensate for the physical and intellectual exertion of police officers.
According to available data, the average salary for police officers is around 25,000 hryvnias per month.
The committee meeting is scheduled for 5 May at 15:30.
The draft law has been under consideration by the Verkhovna Rada since 2022. On 12 March 2025, it was adopted at first reading subject to further refinement.
