The confiscation of Russian assets has brought in over 8 billion hryvnia for the Ukrainian budget
This has been reported by the press office of Transparency International Ukraine.
This concerns 20 Russian assets of various types – real estate, transport, corporate rights, financial assets and others, TI Ukraine clarified.
The organisation claims that the confiscation process is being held up not only by the ‘exhaustion’ of Russian assets on Ukrainian territory, but also by frequent personnel changes at the Ministry of Justice, which is responsible for filing claims with the High Anti-Corruption Court.
“The confiscation process itself is a way of holding Russia financially accountable, and it is yielding concrete results,” the statement reads.
Over 8 billion hryvnias have already been transferred to the Ukrainian budget, which can be used for reconstruction and compensation for losses, notes TI Ukraine.
Since the mechanism came into effect in 2022, 85 assets have been sold and 138 are being prepared for sale.
A further 1,980 assets are under the management of the relevant authorities, in particular the State Property Fund of Ukraine (SPFU) and the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA). In addition, 132 properties are located in temporarily occupied territories.
As a reminder, it was previously reported that in 2026, the consequences of sanctions and high war costs were particularly felt in Russia.
