During searches of the homes of senior National Police officials, law enforcement officers seized luxury cars, weapons, Swiss watches and large sums of cash. Five suspects have already been arrested in connection with the case.

During the investigation, law enforcement officers seized six luxury cars, five Swiss watches, firearms and bladed weapons, mobile phones, as well as cash in various currencies totalling over 22.6 million hryvnias from those involved. Five participants in the scheme have been detained. All have been served with notices of suspicion.

Among the suspects is a driver from the vehicle fleet of the State Agency “Service Centre for MIA Units”, whom investigators believe to be an intermediary in the scheme. He is charged with incitement and aiding and abetting the obtaining of unlawful benefits by a public official holding a position of responsibility.

Charges have also been brought against the head of the Main Department of the National Police in Ivano-Frankivsk region, his deputy, the first deputy head of the Main Department of the National Police in Ternopil region, and the deputy head of the Main Department of the National Police in Zhytomyr region.

According to the investigation, the officials are suspected of receiving undue benefits on a particularly large scale by failing to act in the interests of third parties whilst in office.

The prosecution is currently preparing a motion to the court regarding the imposition of preventive measures on the suspects.

Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine reported that searches had been carried out at regional police units in the Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil and Zhytomyr regions as part of a case concerning the unhindered operation of a network of so-called ‘porn offices’.
