A massive attack on Odessa, leaving 10 people injured and causing damage to civilian infrastructure
On the night of 27 April, Odessa came under a massive attack by Russian drones. According to preliminary reports, strikes were recorded on residential buildings and civilian infrastructure.
Oleg Kipper, head of the Odessa Regional Military Administration, reported that the attack damaged a residential building, a hotel and private cars. Debris from the drones was also found within the city limits, and fires broke out.
It later emerged that at least nine people had been injured. Damage to civilian infrastructure was reported in several areas of the city, including two residential buildings, a hotel, warehouses and vehicles.
Serhiy Lysak, head of the Odesa City Military Administration, reported that the city had come under a massive attack on residential areas and civilian infrastructure during the night. According to him, 10 people, including two children, sought medical assistance.
The most damage was recorded in the Primorskyi district, where residential buildings, a hotel and facilities in the city centre were affected. This is where most of the casualties, including children, were injured.
The Khadzhibey and Kyiv districts were also hit. High-rise buildings, private homes and vehicles were damaged there.
According to Lysak, over 250 emergency service and utility workers were on the ground throughout the night. Medical assistance is being provided to the injured, and residents of damaged buildings are being assisted and advised on compensation.
Prior to the attack, the Air Force had warned of a group of drones heading towards the city. An air raid alert was issued in Odesa, and residents were urged to remain in shelters until it was over.
