Massive attack on Kyiv and Kyiv region, there are wounded

On the night of 22 February, Russia launched a combined attack on Kyiv and the Kyiv region, using missiles and drones. Destruction and fires were reported in the Kyiv region, with one fatality and several injuries.

During the air raid alert, explosions were heard in the capital. The Ukrainian Air Force warned of the threat of ballistic weapons being used from the north and detected high-speed targets heading towards Kyiv.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that two victims, a woman and a child, were hospitalised in the capital from the suburbs. According to preliminary information, debris fell in a private sector.

The head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko, said that reports of a fire in the Svyatoshynsky district had not been confirmed. Earlier, he wrote about damage to a residential high-rise building in the Svyatoshynsky district and a fire on the roof of the building. Details about the victims were being clarified.

In the Kyiv region, the consequences of a massive rocket and drone attack on the night of 22 February were recorded in the Boryspil, Brovary, Fastiv, Bucha and Obukhiv districts. According to the State Emergency Service, infrastructure facilities, private residential and farm buildings were damaged, and fires broke out.

In the Boryspil district, a private house was damaged, and a woman was reportedly injured by glass debris. There were also reports of a fire in a farm building, which was localized.

In the Brovarsky district, 10 premises in a garage cooperative were damaged, and the fire was extinguished. In the Buchansky district, two private houses and a car were damaged. In the Obukhivsky district, damage to warehouse premises and a private house was recorded.

In the village of Putrivka, Fastiv district, eight people, including a child, were rescued from the rubble. One person died while being transported to the hospital. Five victims were hospitalised. Rescuers also saved a man while clearing the aftermath of shelling in the residential sector of the village of Sofiivska Borshchahivka.

As of the time of this update, 15 victims have been confirmed, including four children, and one fatality. The largest number of victims was in the Fastiv district, where rescuers pulled eight people from the rubble after a building collapsed. Victims were also reported in the Boryspil, Vyshhorod, Obukhiv, and Bucha districts.
