The head of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi, has been serving as the city mayor for almost 19 and a half years — the longest among all mayors in Ukraine.

The shortest tenure as a city mayor so far has been served by Kharkiv's head Ihor Terekhov – three years and ten months,  writes ThePublic.info, citing «Slovo i dilo».

The publication decided to look into how many years current mayors in Ukraine have held their positions.

Most time spent as a mayor is by Andriy Sadovyi – elected mayor of Lviv for the first time in April 2006, thus currently serving his fourth term (19 years and 5 months).
In second place for length of tenure is Ternopil's mayor Serhiy Nadal – 14 years and 10 months. Nadal was first elected mayor in November 2010, and he is currently serving his third term.
Odessa's mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov has held the position for 11 years and 4 months (since May 2014). This is Trukhanov's third term.
Kiev's mayor Vitali Klitschko has been managing the capital for 11 years and 3 months. Kiev residents first elected Klitschko as mayor in May 2014, and he is currently serving his third term.

Equal terms as mayor have been served by: Uzhhorod mayor Bohdan Andriiev, Cherkasy mayor Anatoliy Bondarenko, Mykolaiv mayor Oleksandr Sienkievych, Khmelnytskyi mayor Oleksandr Symchyshyn, Vinnytsia mayor Serhii Morgunov, Dnipro mayor Borys Filatov, Ivano-Frankivsk mayor Ruslan Marciniv – 9 years and 10 months (all in their second terms, first elected in 2015).

Lutsk mayor Ihor Polischuk has been in office for 4 years and 10 months. This is his first term (since November 27, 2020). Approximately the same amount of time has been served by Chernivtsi mayor Roman Klichuk – 4 years and 9 months.

Kharkiv's head Ihor Terekhov has held the position for 3 years and 10 months (since November 11, 2021). This is Terekhov's first term as Kharkiv's mayor.

It is worth noting that eight regional centers of Ukraine (36%) currently do not have a mayor.

In Kropyvnytskyi, the powers of the mayor were entrusted to the city council secretary Oleg Kolyuk (3 years and 6 months). Such an order was issued before the start of new duties in the Kirovohrad Regional State Administration by former mayor Andriy Raikovych in March 2022.

In Poltava, the city is managed by the city council secretary Kateryna Yamschykova – 2 years and 2 months.

In Rivne, the mayor's powers are held by city council secretary Viktor Shakiryian – 2 years and one month.

In Sumy, the mayor's functions are performed by city council secretary Artem Kobzar – 1 year and 8 months.

In Zaporizhzhia, the powers of the city mayor are assigned to city council secretary Regina Kharchenko – 1 year and 5 months.

Also currently without a mayor is Zhytomyr. The city has been led by city council secretary Halyna Shymanska for a year now.

In Chernihiv, the deputy mayor Viktor Herashchenko was authorized to perform administrative-management, organizational, and other functions of the executive bodies of the city council (9 months, since December 2024).

In Kherson, the mayor's powers were assigned to 35-year-old Yaroslav Shanko – head of the Kherson city military administration (4 months, since June 2025).
