In Odesa region, a woman will be tried for forcing her 96-year-old mother to beg for mercy
Investigators have charged the suspect. She faces up to eight years in prison.

In order to attract more attention and increase the number of donations, the daughter bought a wheelchair for her mother and chained it to a pole so that the woman could not leave the begging spot without permission, reports  the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odessa region. The offender controlled the begging process and took the received money for her own needs.

When the district officer discovered the violation, the offender offered him monthly "kickbacks" of 15 thousand hryvnias. The law enforcement officer informed the management, after which investigators and operatives began documenting the crime. The suspect was detained immediately after the money was transferred. The money was confiscated as evidence. During the investigation, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention with the right to bail for the detained person.

The investigators charged the suspect under Part 1 of Article 149 (human trafficking) and Part 1 of Article 369 (providing illegal benefits to a public official).
