Ramstein has stated that Russia’s losses have outpaced the rate of mobilisation
This was reported by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
During the opening of the 34th meeting in the ‘Ramstein’ format, Mykhailo Fedorov stated that the Ukrainian Defence Forces are not only holding their positions on the battlefield but are also increasing pressure on the Russian army. According to him, Russian losses have already reached a level that exceeds the rate of its mobilisation.
The Defence Minister emphasised that Ukraine is making “every metre of Ukrainian soil” extremely costly for the enemy. It was in this context that he announced new casualty figures: an average of 254 Russian soldiers per square kilometre and 428 in the Donetsk region.
Separately, Fedorov stated that Ukraine is simultaneously increasing pressure on the Russian economy, primarily in the energy sector. According to him, Ukraine’s actions are disrupting the enemy’s logistics, increasing its costs and reducing the resources Russia can allocate to continuing the war.
In his speech at Ramstein, the minister also outlined Ukraine’s enduring priorities. These include air defence, scaling up Ukrainian drones and missiles, and securing long-range artillery munitions.
According to the Ministry of Defence, Fedorov also emphasised that Ukraine’s approach to the war is based on three domains – air, land and the economy – and is already yielding results. It is within this framework that Kyiv is counting on further strengthening cooperation with partners within the Contact Group.
As reported by ThePublic, the 34th meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine’s Defence in the ‘Ramstein’ format began in Berlin on 15 April. The meeting is taking place in a hybrid format, with Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius, British Defence Minister John Gilley and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte attending in person.
